My own hosted wordpress

October 17, 2005 at 3:23 am | Posted in News Updates | 2 Comments

I’m switching over my own hosted blog for several reasons

 – Biggest reason: I have 100% control over it. Here’s you’re kind of limited with what you can do.

– I can’t change the design here.

– I can’t upload and share files.

– other small issues.

I’m still leaving this account open and might come back if it improves, but for now I’m off to my own blog: blogvp.com – come visit now.

It looks like wordpress.com doesn’t allow for up of Excel docs so I’ve upload a screen capture of the sampel one I put together to get you ideas of the layout. I think it’ll be very usefull to see how I’m doing and have a visual of how much dollar is being earned as well as the increases each month in percent.

New Adsense Case Study about Weblogs Inc here:

“In the beginning, probably 1 percent of our revenue came from AdSense revenue,” Calacanis recalls. But over time, and after testing and optimizing AdSense features, this revenue grew more – from $1,000 to $3,000 a day – a 200 percent increase.

Tracking Progress

October 13, 2005 at 5:05 pm | Posted in Progress | Leave a comment

When I worked in the banking industy (which I’ll write about some other time), I was amazed with their obsession of having numbers on EVERYTHING and I mean everything. So I’m following the same lead and I’ve now created an excel document to be able to track and graph my earnings. Similar to what Darren has.

Tesiting out this wordpress.com blog

October 13, 2005 at 4:14 pm | Posted in News Updates | Leave a comment

After 20 minutes of looking around and pressing buttons, I’m happy with how wordpress.com works. Here’s some comments:

  • I like the “Password Protect” feature, that might come in handy sometime in the future.
  • A little bit more control over the template would be great.
  • Haven’t seen any bugs yet.
  • Creating a more “open” system. What I mean is letting us see/add to places to ping and let it doodle around in the code.
  • Ability to add plugins?
  • I’ve been using wordpress.org blogs for a while now, so it’s really similar. But this is what I expected from a hosted package.
